To pin apps to the taskbar
- Press and hold (or right-click) an app, and then select More > Pin to taskbar.
- If the app is already open on the desktop, press and hold (or right click) the app's taskbar button, and then select Pin to taskbar.

If you have photoshop, you can make your desktop look even more like a mac then it does already. Just leave the icons on the desktop in the dock at the bottom, then change your wallpaper to a blank colour (green is usually the best) then take a screen shot. Open the screen shot in photoshop then remove the background, so you just have the icons. You can easily find the Applications folder on a Mac computer using the Finder tool in your Dock, where you can also pin the apps you use most. Every Mac user knows the Dockāit sits at the bottom of the screen, giving you quick access to your favorite and currently open apps and folders. Using the Mac Dock shortcuts, you can launch Finder and Launchpad, throw files into the Trash folder, as well as access your Downloads folder directly.
Note: To remove a pinned app from the taskbar, open the app's Jump List, and then select Unpin from taskbar.
To add shortcuts to the desktop
The desktop, menu bar, and Help on your Mac. The first thing you see on your MacBook Air is the desktop, where you can quickly open apps, search for anything on your MacBook Air and the web, organize your files, and more.
- Press and hold (or right-click) the desktop, then select New > Shortcut.
- Enter the location of the item or select Browse to find the item in File Explorer.
Notes:
- To delete a shortcut from your desktop, press and hold (or right-click) it, then select Delete.
- If you delete a shortcut, only the shortcut is removed, not the original item.
- You can't create shortcuts for Windows Store apps.
